Project Description

Lancaster Engineering supported Washington Park’s Transportation Management Association in the development and implementation of new traffic control and parking management strategies for the park’s main lot. During busy days, the park draws significantly more visitors arriving by car than the parking lot can accommodate. Our work involved providing a predictive framework to guide activation of an overflow parking lot based upon real-time counts of vehicle arrivals at the park. The work included an updated traffic flow plan for the park’s main lot, with the goal of helping visitors efficiently circulate through the designated drop-off areas and find available parking stalls. Our plan included maps, signage, and budget-conscious transportation management tools. Based on our public outreach and client collaboration, we provided options appropriate for both immediate implementation and in anticipation of the park’s future growth. Washington Park’s project team is the Key Staff named for Parklane Park.
